Distillery

From Field to Bottle

Each year at the height of the summer we gather the lavender and bring it into the distillery to extract the precious essential oils. We use a method originally invented by the ancient Egyptians to gently extract the oils from the flowers using steam made from naturally softened rainwater. This steam separates the essential oils from the flowers. As the steam condenses the oils and gently separated out by gravity giving the gentlest possible, chemical free extraction.

Our oils are allowed to age naturally for a year before they are used. Each year we produce around 1.5 tons of oil which we use to make our lavender range and also supply to other manufacturers.

Visitors can learn about the history of lavender growing and how it came to Britain, as well as watching the distillation taking place - usually during the last week of July.
